Cooperation Joint Symposium of the University of Tsukuba and Ruhr University

The event marks the start of a new era of cooperation.

On September 5, 2024, the joint symposium took place at both locations – via livestream from Bochum in the morning and from Tsukuba in the afternoon.

Perhaps even more important than the lectures were the bilateral cooperation talks that the guests held with professors from Ruhr University in various working groups in the afternoon. The participants discussed their current research in the fields of materials science, physics, urban planning and economics, artificial intelligence and quantum information and identified opportunities to intensify cooperation.

The liaison officer from the University of Tsukuba at Ruhr University, Yusaku Nishijima, will play an important role in this process of initiating cooperation schemes. The process will take place both online and through face-to-face meetings in the coming months, for example at the annual board meeting of the Campus-in-Campus network (end of October 2024) or at a conference organized by the Faculty of Physics and Astronomy (mid-February 2025). In the meantime, scientists will also undertake various trips to the respective partner university.
