Three Visits to Bochum

Stefano Baranzini is conducting research as a Humboldt Postdoc Fellow at the Chair of Geometry. He will be coming to Bochum a total of three times, staying for an extended period each time.

Dr. Stefano Baranzini has been awarded one of the highly competitive Humboldt Postdoc Fellowships and is now conducting regular research at the Chair of Geometry alongside his colleague Luca Asselle. We’d like to introduce our guest in the form of a profile.

Name: Dr. Stefano Baranzini

Field of Study: Mathematics

Home University: University San Raffaele (Rom)

Type of Scholarship: Humboldt Postdoc Fellowship

Host: Professor Luca Asselle (Chair of Geometry)

Duration of the visit: April 1, 2026 to June 30, 2028

Research focus and main objectives of the visit to Ruhr University: Hamiltonian dynamics. During his research stay at RUB, Baranzini will investigate singular mechanical systems, with particular emphasis on highly symmetric structures central to systolic inequalities, as well as chaotic systems motivated by n-body interactions.
