New Continuing Education Institution

Lifelong Learning as the Key to the Future

Ruhr University Bochum and TU Dortmund University are sending a strong signal in support of lifelong learning. Together, they are founding the School of Advanced Professional Studies.

With the School of Advanced Professional Studies, Ruhr University Bochum and TU Dortmund University emphasize the importance of learning at every stage of life. Together, they are creating a forward-looking platform for continuing education and innovation. The new institution will be established as a non-profit limited liability company (gGmbH) under the joint sponsorship of the Academy of Ruhr University Bochum gGmbH and TU Dortmund University. In the future, the School of Advanced Professional Studies will offer a broad range of continuing education programs and strengthen the visibility and strategic positioning of both universities in the continuing education market.

Connecting Academia, Industry, and Society

“We will create a platform with this new institution that not only offers high-quality continuing education but also promotes networking between academia, industry, and society,” explains Professor Kornelia Freitag, Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs at Ruhr University Bochum. The collaboration between TU Dortmund University and Ruhr University Bochum creates strong synergies, enabling the development of joint continuing education programs and their efficient marketing. “The founding of the School of Advanced Professional Studies is an important step towards aligning our continuing education programs even more closely with the needs of participants and thereby elevating university knowledge transfer to a new level,” emphasizes Professor Wiebke Möhring, Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs at TU Dortmund University.

Next Steps and Quality Assurance

After the gGmbH has been established, the partners will jointly develop the specific content of the continuing education programs as well as the organizational measures. This will also include designing workflows and developing a concept for quality assurance.
