Campus development Information meeting: GC redevelopment project
The GC building complex is going to be decontaminated, dismantled and ultimately reconstructed over the next few years. Information on the first sub-project will be shared at an upcoming meeting.
It’s the next major construction site on the campus: GC will be the first of the G-buildings to be reconstructed. Completion is scheduled for summer 2028
Hybrid information meeting
Information about the concrete plans will be shared at a meeting which is open to all interested parties.
The first item on the agenda is the introduction of the project team. It consists of:
- the client (Bau- und Liegenschaftsbetrieb NRW, i.e. real estate services of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia),
- the general planning contractor (Gerber Architekten),
- experts,
- the general contractor (PORR Becker GmbH)
- and the project management team at Administrative Department 5.II (Construction Management) at Ruhr University Bochum
The team will outline the construction process and the timeframe of the project. The focus will be on construction site logistics, hazardous substance removal and measures to mitigate the inescapable construction site emissions (noise and dust). The team will also present concepts for emissions monitoring and for information and communication.
The following areas will be closed
The groundwork for the project already started in early July 2023. This includes clearing out the building, fencing off the construction area and setting up a container camp. It is necessary for the project to close the car park to the south of GC and the road G-Südstraße. The traffic can be redirected via the recently finished road G-Süd-Süd-Strasse. Visitors arriving by car can park in P-West (P12 and P13).
