Worldwide Universities Network RUB joins renowned network
Membership strengthens profile as an international network university.
Ruhr-Universität Bochum (RUB) has been accepted into the internationally important Worldwide Universities Network (WUN) as the only German member university. RUB Rector Professor Martin Paul is delighted about the new alliance: “Our membership in the WUN will be beneficial for both sides. We are collaborating with like-minded partner universities that focus on socially relevant research with a focus on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Together with our partners we are fostering the next generation of dedicated scientists.”
WUN is a leading global higher education and research network that now includes 26 full universities on six continents.
„We are delighted to announce that Ruhr University Bochum has joined the Worldwide Universities Network. WUN warmly welcomes Rector Martin Paul and colleagues as partners. Ruhr University Bochum brings valuable new strengths to the network, and enlarges WUN’s capacity for collaborative research on problems of central importance,” said Executive Director Peter Lennie.
Joining the WUN will facilitate several goals set by the RUB Rectorate: first, it will make RUB more visible as an international network university. The network complements other international alliances, such as UNIC. The WUN focus on the SDGs helps RUB to discuss its sustainability goals with complementary partner institutions and achieve synergies. Finally, WUN is a research network in which junior researchers as well as students interested in research can connect with like-minded people and lay the foundation for joint research proposals. Since WUN is a network of comprehensive research universities, all of RUB’s scientific disciplines can benefit from it.
