Kristina Tschulik is a new member of the NRW Academy of Sciences
Professor Kristina Tschulik, chemistry researcher at Ruhr-Universität Bochum (RUB), is a new member of the North Rhine-Westphalian Academy of Sciences and Arts. As head of the interdisciplinary research group Electrochemistry and Nanoscale Materials, she was elected to the Class for Engineering and Economics. Her work focuses on electrochemical materials research. This year, the Academy admits 15 new members from NRW in total. Being accepted to the Academy is an honour granted to outstanding researchers.
About the researcher
Kristina Tschulik studied chemistry at Technische Universität Dresden, where she also completed her doctorate in 2012. While pursuing her PhD degree, she worked at the Leibniz Institute for Solid State and Materials Research. Afterwards she joined the University of Oxford, as a postdoctoral “Marie Curie Intra European Fellow”. After a research stay in Johannesburg, South Africa, she moved to RUB in September 2015 funded by the NRW Returnee Programme of the Ministry of Innovation, Science and Research– initially as junior professor in the team of the Resolv Cluster of Excellence. In 2017, Kristina Tschulik was a visiting professor at Université Paris Diderot in France and since 2018 she holds the Chair of Analytical Chemistry II at RUB.
The North Rhine-Westphalian Academy of Sciences and Arts celebrates its 50th anniversary in 2020. Founded in 1970 as the successor institution to “Arbeitsgemeinschaft für Forschung” (work-collective for research) of the Federal State of North Rhine-Westphalia, the Academy has been uniting leading researchers from NRW under its roof for half a century. For over a decade, its members have also included renowned artists. The Academy promotes dialogue across disciplinary boundaries and generations as well as exchange with society.
