RAPID TESTS IN THE UFO BUILDING RUB gets a test centre

The Unicenter now has a test centre, where RUB employees and students can take a free coronavirus/Covid-19 test.

RUB is expanding its testing strategy. In cooperation with the provider Medicare, the “Bochum University Test Centre” has opened in the University Forum UFO in the Unicenter in Querenburg. It is open to all citizens, employees and students who wish to take a free coronavirus/Covid-19 rapid test. RUB is making its rented space in the UFO available for this purpose.

“I am very pleased that we have successfully strengthened our testing strategy with a testing centre on the premises of Ruhr-Universität. We have found a reliable partner in Medicare, who helps us to make all courses and other sessions that are currently allowed to take place in person even safer,” says Chancellor Dr. Christina Reinhardt.

The test centre is open seven days a week (see info box below). Please make an appointment in advance to avoid unnecessary waiting times – appointments can be booked online. The test results can also be accessed online.

RUB’s testing strategy

To contain the coronavirus pandemic, it is still necessary to avoid personal contact and to observe all distance and hygiene rules. In addition, RUB relies on a comprehensive testing strategy with coronavirus/Covid-19 rapid tests for lay use (self-tests). All RUB employees whose job requires them to be on campus are entitled to two coronavirus/Covid-19 self-tests per week. Employees and students should take coronavirus/Covid-19 self-tests before teaching, training and other sessions that must be attended in person. The test centre in the immediate vicinity of the campus is another useful extension of the testing strategy. This strategy now also entails the so-called citizens’ test (“Bürgertest”), a rapid antigen test, in which the result is available after 15 minutes.
